will the ISPConfig DDNS plugin work with namecheap?
Well as answers go this is one. If one registers a domain name with namecheap or any other domain then you use their name servers. You say if you use theirs or ispconfig, did not know ispconfig has a name server company. NG-NAT has become a very large problem for many. Have been trying to get a simple url address for work for month with ispconfig and not luck.
    Sorry for my interest.

Depends on where Namecheap enters the picture.

The DDNS module is for ISPC dns servers only.
So if you registered your domain with Namecheap and are running your own ISPC dns servers for that domain then YES.

If you registered your domain with Namecheap and are using their dns servers then NO.

That's an option only available when using Namecheap dns servers.
Not sure what it does exactly. I do have domains registered there but use my own dns servers so I don't have that option available to me.
Seems to me it creates a ddns account/hostname within Namecheap which you need to update using some client to set the proper IP.

ISPC's DDNS module has nothing to do with this and can't do anything for you.
It's not a DDNS client but a service that adds DDNS functionality like this to ISPC's dns.

I don't understand what that means. This has never worked. I am not using Namecheap's DNS servers. I am wanting to set up my own DNS server.

If you're not using Namecheap's dns servers but your own you don't have the host record option at Namecheap and therefor can't create A + Dynamic DNS Records over there.
Also that option has no relevance what so ever with ISPC's DDNS module.

So to go back to my first reply:
ISPC's DDNS module works with any ISPC dns server.
Where the domain is registered is completely irrelevant. As long as you've set your dns servers over there.

I'm using ISPC's DDNS module for several years now. Both businesswise and in my own personal testlab.
Multiple domains are registered all over the world (including some at Namecheap) but always using my own (business or personal) dns servers.
DDNS works like a charm. My own router at home and that of several customers can update DDNS records without any issues.

I assume you mean your own dns server within your ISPC set-up.
You need to do that first before you can add the DDNS module in ISPC.

If your question has arised from the fact that your ISPC set-up is behind an internetconnection with a dynamic ip-address then you have a whole other problem.
You then can't use your own ISPC's dns server as a dns server has to have a static ip-address. This goes for both master and slave dns servers.
Otherwise the world cannot find your dns servers anymore when your ip-address changes and therefor cannot resolve your domain anymore.
Your not going to solve that in any way with ISPC's DDNS module.
