Everytime I try to create a new E-mail user in ISPConfig it tells me Duplicate E-mail Exists.

I've rebuilt/checked the databases restarted the server, removed everything from the recycle bins but to no avail.

Not sure where to go from here.

Thanks in advance for any help

Maybe you entered this email address as alias of another existing email user? Please check the alias fields of all users.

Also make sure the username is not listed in /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/users.

These are new users that have never been entered into the system. None of the existing users have aliases. It doesn't matter what name I enter I still get the Duplicate Exists error. I can however, modify existing users with no problem, i.e. change spam settings, etc.

I restored the server from a backup but still cannot get it to work.

    Thanks for your help

    Please answer falkos question:

Are the users listed in /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/users ?

I have had a simmilar problem as the user above - I was not able to add some e-mail addresses. I found their usernames in /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/users. About 5 of the 20 users on my server ended in that file. I made a backup of that file and deleted the ispconfig email users out of the file. Is that ok?

And, if the users werent suposed to be in there, what could have made them appear in there?

    Thats ok.

ISPConfig stores all users that where on your system before ISPConfig is installed to this file. This is for security to prevent that system users like www-data and even the root user where overridden by users created in ISPConfig.
