Can't install 'rsync' on Debian Jessie to us Migration tool that cost about $90USd

Thought I had all the prerequisites but missing "rsync" on the old ISPCONFIG especially since "rsync" is part of ISPCONFIG 3.2.7p1 in the gui. However there is no command line rsync. I have been battling this for days now and not being able to get this package with any of the command line tools and is killing me. Apparently they moved this or closed the archives and I am stumped what to do. Can anyone help? I need to get this new server migrated and online and the time it has take to try to dope out why I can't get one file installed is just adding insult to injury. Why would they remove this?

Please HELP!!!!!

In the ISPConfig GUI, there is a function called Resync and not rsync, also its not related to the Linux program rsync.

Rsync has not been removed from Debian Jessie. I guess you still have standard Debian Jessie apt archive in your sources.list files while you should have changed it to Debian archives. Here a short guide from Chat GPT:

If you still want APT to work on Debian Jessie, you must switch your APT sources to the Debian archive, because all normal Jessie mirrors were removed years ago.

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ Current status of Debian Jessie

Debian Jessie (8) reached end-of-life in June 2020.

Security support ended in June 2020 (ESM).

All standard repositories were moved to the Debian Archive, and the old security.debian.org entries no longer work.

✅ What your /etc/apt/sources.list should look like now
Use this minimal working version for Jessie:

deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free
deb http://archive.debian.org/debian-security/ jessie/updates main contrib non-free

You will also need to disable APT date checks, because the Release files are expired:

Edit /etc/apt/apt.conf (or create it if it doesn’t exist):

Acquire::Check-Valid-Until "false";

✅ Notes / Warnings

Jessie packages are frozen in time — no updates, no security fixes.

Many HTTPS repo endpoints no longer work unless you upgrade apt and openssl, which may not be possible.

For systems exposed to a network, upgrading to a supported Debian version is strongly recommended (Bookworm or Trixie).
