hello we have a master/slave setup running 3.3.0p3 version. the whole stack is on debian 12. is it ok to upgrade all the ispconfig stack with debian 12 and upgrade the os to debian 13 more in the future? for the upgrade is it ok to use the shell script or there is a smarter way? start with slaves and do the master as last? thanks Max
I did not really catch what you are asking except it is about upgrading OS and ISPConfig. You should read https://www.faqforge.com/linux/controlpanels/ispconfig3/how-to-update-ispconfig-3/ Among other things, it says "In the case of a Multiserver setup, update the master server first and then the slave servers." For updating the Debian OS, you should read the Debian release notes https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/releasenotes . There is guide for upgrades on an ISPConfig system, you should read the "How to Upgrade from Debian 12 to Debian 13" tutorial, which seems like not published yet. Meanwhile you can read https://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-upgrade-from-debian-11-to-debian-12/ .
thank you for the reply. I know that procedure but for what i understood the uptodate version of ISPconfig is ok for debian 13. But my dubt is: can i upgrade ispconfig to the latest version even if i still run deb 12 on the whole stack? (master and slaves). In such a way that in the next months i can separately upgrade the OS from deb 12 to deb 13.
Uptodate version of ISPConfig is also OK for Debian 12. You can update ISPConfig. Just remember all hosts in the ISPConfig cluster must run the same version of ISPConfig. You can upgrade the OS on your hosts now that ISPConfig supports Debian 13.
ok thanks. in my notes i had to start from slaves and master as last. so it seems to me this is wrong? moreover since the network is around 20 servers, there will be a time frame in which the version will not match for all the slaves and the master. is that a problem?
First, the master node, then the slave nodes. And you might want to enable maintenance mode on the master to avoid that someone does something in the UI until you update the slaves. No.
