Yup i know i'm DUMB, REAL DUMB

During the CentOS perfect install at the point of setting the MySQL password i entered a random password (generated for me and saved).

But the problem is the password contained control chars that i didnt notice.

End result ----- root password is set but i dont know what it is.

    Can someone please help.

I have tried several 'change forgotten root password' pages on the net but none have worked.

The db is empty so i have no problems deleting MySQL and starting that bit again but how do i do that ??????

I tried 'yum remove mysql mysql-devel mysql-server' then 'yum install mysql mysql-devel mysql-server' but password seems to still be set.

    HEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Please
