Does ISP-Config have support for secure server functionality as needed for e-commerce sites?

I mean to say, I imagine using ISP-Config means not hand editing the httpd.conf file, and such?

    yes.

Its the purpose of a hosting control panel to not edit the httpd.conf manually. I guess you did not looka the the manual or the online demo or the feature description at all ;)

Well, I did look at the manual, but didn't see anything about https. Particularly how it is handled. I’ll look again, but can you point me at the specific section? I’m curious if, for example, secure pages can be restricted to certain directories.

    I looked here: http://www.ispconfig.org/documentation.htm

I’m also interested in if it is possible to manage .htaccess files for each directory (particularly because I want to allow mod_rewrite rules for things like search engine friendly URLs…). This too is probably in the manual.

Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places.

    Have a look here: http://ispconfig.org/downloads/manual_en/manual_kunde_en_src.htm#4_2_4

It's about password-protection of directories using .htaccess files. If you need .htaccess files for other purposes, you must write and upload them yourself.

    re-https

it seem you get here a very interesting personality...No more commentary except that, i will thanks you first for him, and have a question about https.

Thanks really much for your howto (ispconfig debian sarge 3.1)

I am not experts, and i would like to know if this is correct:
is it impossible to connect in Ispconfig manager using https with numeric server IP adress ? Because i couldn't be able yet to connect in with name's resolution, but only numerics IP( JUST a DNS problem, i must waitting),and so i get an error message with https and numeric IP adress.

I ask you this question, because I validated box “SSL” of my Web site, but I did not envisage to choose “https” during my installation, and I am not able to currently be connected in https (I have only the accessible addresses numerical)

But I think that it is sufficient to validate box “SSL” in the window of the Web site? isn't it ?

It seems you mix up the websites in ISPConfig and the ISPConfig controlpanel interface.

You can connect to the controlpanle on every IP and domain that points to your server on port 81. If you can use http or https depends on the setting you choose during installation.

The websites that you create in ISPConfig are always name based, so you can not connect to them with the IP address. If the website has SSL depends on the setting of the SSL checkbox in the website settings of this website. You must create a SSL certificate on the SSL Tab for the website.

oh, yes, It is what I feared...but now that I must use controlpanel interface from web, I will want to know if there is a SIMPLE MEANS to configure it back as https (
corresponds to the choice (2) at the end of the installation of ISPConfig?

    Thank you very much.
