I was wondering, what to install... if ever! ncftp is the client, ncftpd the server, but installing ISPC on CentOS 4.2/4.3 with proftpd, are ncftp/cdftpd really needed. I installed both anyway, but got some disturbing messages installing ncftpd: Code: Warning: your /etc/ftpusers file may be missing entries. The /etc/ftpusers file is a list of users who should NOT be allowed to login by FTP. The following users were found on your system, and are NOT in /etc/ftpusers. Please review the list below, and if one or more of the users below should not be logging in by FTP, add them to /etc/ftpusers using a text editor (such as vi). games ntp Using /var/ftp for ftp-home No FTP server is running. /etc/xinetd.conf does not appear to be handling the "ftp" service. Installation log saved as /usr/local/etc/ncftpd/install_ncftpd.log. It seems to disable some proftpd stuff and I do not know if this is going to give me problems. Also, I don't know how to return to a previous configuration, without ncftpd. Though I rebooted the system, ISPC doesn't seem to be effected and doesn't show any new ncftpd server in the web-interface in "System Config" > Settings under the FTP-tab, other then VS-FTP and ProFTD. Also the web-ftp still works as before... so, I'm a bit confused. Please, enlighten me!
Thanks for the reply... ...and for explanatory reason, removing ncftpd was quite easy. After installation of this package a uninstall script is generated. Path to it is /usr/local/etc/ncftpd/uninstall_ncftpd.pl Running this script will remove it without any hassle.
