I'm trying to do the Snort Base installation. Have had to start over several times. "update-inetd --......." <- Yes" Page 36 of 56 I do not get this Yes option. AND "quotaon - avug" I get "quotaon: using //aquota.group on /dev/hda1 [/]: No such process quotaon: Quota format not supported in kernel. quotaon: using //aquota.user on /dev/hda1 [/]: No such process quotaon: Quota format not supported in kernel." The kernel I installed is 2.4. That was the one linked to this documentation. Liz M
Hi Liz I'm not sure about the: issue, but the quota problem is definately a kernel version issue. At the start of the Deb Sarge howto you may have missed this: You either need to compile a 2.6 kernel for your system or start over and install it from the outset. This may help with the other problem too, but I am not sure. Someone else with more knowledge may be able to help out there. Hope that helps. Bubo
Opps You mean I'm supposed to read ALL of those little words. I missed that one. I'll begin again. Appreciate the help. If I run into anything else, I'll let you know.
Which message do you get, when you run: apt-get install quota Is this a physical server or a vserver?
Again I begain again I had to start all over again. Once I installed the 2.6 kernel, it worked fine. I had an issue with the ISPConfig installation. Can't find anything on this website to help me with that so I'm using the setup manual from that website. I didn't choose NO when it asked about encrypting the respective keys. If you have any input on the ISPConfig, I'd welcome the help. Liz M
