    Hi
I have finsihed now reinstalling everything from the ground up, with Fedora Core 6 and ISPConfig. Created the DNS entries and websites with ISPConfig, and it looks OK to me - all the zone files are there etc.
I have 5 domains, 4 "real" with my external IP and 1 internal (my.local) with the internal IP of the box. I have a firewall with NAT translating all inbound traffic on apropriate ports to the internal IP of this box.

    But:
1: named wil not resolve... this part worked last week before the reinstall, but now i have messed up somewhere. It will not resolve any of my hosts/domain. Neither have I succeeded when trying nslookup from the outside..

If you have any hints I will appreaciate it.
    TIA

    some further investigation

I checked with www.dnsreport.com for one of the domains (garnes.no) and it came back with "ns.makeitwork.as. has no A record." among other things. (ns.makeitwork.as is my new FC6 box which I am trying to set up now).

But - as far as I can see the file pri.garnes.no contains the same info as the file garnes.no.zone on my old RH9 box. Goes for the other domains as well.

Is there a difference between a bind installation and a bind-chroot installation that I have missed? Is my FC6 box working with the standard bind which has no files? How can I tell?

oh well - I'll try to figure it out somehow.

named is working but now I have "shared IP"...

Where can I find the logs to find out why this happens?

    thanks,

    1) Did you install your bind as described in the perfect setup guide for fedora 6?
    2) Use the following command to check your local webserver:

    dig @localhost garnes.no

    3) Please post the content of your named.conf file.

    1. I did follow the perfect setup, but I might have been a little "off track" regarding which packages to install in the first place.
What I have done now is to remove bind-chroot, cahcing-nameserver and bind. Then I reinstalled bind, caching-ameserver and bind-chroot.
The DNS part now seems to work.

3: See attached file. Looks OK?

4: Whan I try webmail.garnes.no or www.garnes.no (or any of the other sites) I get the "Shared IP" page - why?

Sorry to bother you but I hope I am learning.
