I am getting the message User's $HOME/.dmrc is being ignored etc etc... The users home directories are automounted via nfs the user info and authentication is via ldap If I manually alter .dmrc in the users home directory on the server the client will use the second time they log in but not the first ( since a reboot ) it but I can't change it from the client So if I put Session=kde in .dmrc on the server for user1 then reboot the client machine and log in as user1 I will get that message and a Gnome desktop . If I log out and log back in again I don't get the message and I get KDE mal
This is what I found about it: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=337468 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=130711 http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=159451 http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=140996
gdm error etc etc One of those links was very enlightening Maybe you know - Is gdm still 'root' at the point it reads .dmrc before the desktop starts - If so the nfs share would have to be set as treat remote root as local otherwise it doesn't have any rights on the server end ?? best wishes mal
