I understand that if I need to login to my email account (eg, [email protected]) from Outlook Express, I have to login as: Username: dstme Password: mypassword How do I configure ISPConfig to only allow me to login with full email address. ie. Username: [email protected] Password: mypassword
You cannot login with your email address, because ISPConfig uses Linux system users and the @ is not allowed in Linux usernames.
I'm no expert in Linux and certainly not ISPConfig so I may be wrong, but I do currently use full email address to login my email account in Cpanel which is running Linux. So that's why I like to know if there is a way to configure ISPConfig so I don't have to change my Outlook Express configuration every time I switch server.
This is not possible in ISPConfig as i posted above. ISPConfig and CPanel are using different approaches for the mailsystem. ISPConfig uses system users and cpanel uses virtual mail accounts. Virtual mail accounts will be supported with ISPConfig 3.
