Partition problem Installing ubuntu 7.04 Hello I am installing Ubuntu 7.04 according to The Perfect Desktop guide and I am getting an error with the partitioning after I click install. Failed to create a file system The ext3 file system creation in partition #1 of IDE 1 master (hda) failed. When I click on ok it takes me back to the partitioner and suggests that I use "Guided - resize IDE 1 master, partition #1 (hda1) and use freed space." and then it says "New Partition Size:" 50% (3.4GB) with a slider bar. I have one 10.3GB hard drive installed and I am trying to install over an old version of Ubuntu. Any ideas why this is happening or how I can fix? Thanks Jrd
You could try to use the GParted Live-CD to format your hard disk and afterwards install Ubuntu using your new partitions.
Thanks, Although I got it working by partitioning the drive manually. But It isn't able to browse the other computers on the network. I think it might be because I didn't set a work group, How would I go about doing that in Ubuntu Feisty?
You could try to use the remote system's IP address to connect to an SMB share, e.g. like this: \\192.168.0.100
