Hi there, I wanted to follow that guide with a blank Debian Etch 4.0 install from DVD. I chose to test that in VMware. I used 2 36 GB virtual disks and configured them as physical volumes for RAID 1 and 4 73 GB virtual disk, which I configured as physical volumes for lvm. I put the /-mountpoint onto the raid disks and /swap and /home on the lvm-disks. My problem is that Debian wants to install LILO as bootloader and not GRUB. Could you tell me why? As I could see in the downloadable VM from howtoforge it must be possible to tell Debian to use GRUB, because the VM from your site uses GRUB. Thx for any advice. Mana
Hi Falko, yes I'm pretty sure, unless the guys at Open Source Factory cheated on me and sold me Sarge in an Etch Box When I do a normal install, i.e. with one or two virtual drives, it uses GRUB. Thx Mana
