Hi Guys I have successfully had ISPConfig installed on a dedicated server since Feb 07 all working perfectly no issues at all, I built a new ISPConfig Server on a VPS due to change in circumstances and recreated things like email accounts etc. The problem is I cannot send SMTP emails from any of the email accounts now under the new ISPConfig. I can receive my POP3 emails into Thunderbird, also I can send and receive IMAP (I believe) via Roundcube as well. I am puzzled, as I have gone through the Perfect Setup again, and all appears correct, please can somebody help. Regards Roy. PS. I just want to add I have trawled the forum on this subject, have found a few posts, but none answer my issues, thanks. OS: Ubuntu 6.06 Server LTS VPS: 1.2 ghz, 768mb RAM, 15gb Hard disk. ISPConfig 2.2.18
Did you enable smtp authentication in your mailclient? Any errors in the mail log file, when you send a email?
Till Thanks for reply. The email client has not changed and setup on VPS is exact same as Dedicated Server. Please find below the TAIL of /var/log/mail.log, the error shown is trying to send an email. All passwords are correct in ISPConfig and in Client, so confused! Roy.
Till I have just turned of SMTP authentication in Thunderbird and it sent mail ok, but I have always had authentication on for obvious reasons, so maybe that helps trying to pinpoint the issue, thanks. Roy.
It looks like your sasl configuration is broken. Please compare your postfix and sasl setup with the setup described in the perfect setup guide for your linux distribution.
Till Found the problem, my saslauthd file was: # This needs to be uncommented before saslauthd will be run automatically # START=yes PARAMS="-m /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd -r" # You must specify the authentication mechanisms you wish to use. # This defaults to "pam" for PAM support, but may also include # "shadow" or "sasldb", like this: # MECHANISMS="pam shadow" MECHANISMS="pam" I needed to removed the # from START=yes Did this, restart the process and it all works perfectly now, i obviously missed that on the install, one to remember! Thanks for you help and pointers Till, very appreciated. Kind Regards Roy.
