FTP: normal user not jailed

If I connect via ftp with Totalcommander, entering the IP address and the userid and password of a normal user, I get an "unlimited" connection, that is I can go into any directory on the server.

Is that normal?

Which FTP server do you use? Proftpd or Vsftpd?

 

I use Proftpd .

 

Do you have a line like

DefaultRoot ~

in /etc/proftpd.conf? If not, put it in there and restart Proftpd.
