I have searched the forum but can't find the answer. Partitioning, following the instructions "Howtoforge, dual booting" from "Cargoship":- I have 2 hard disks, 150g sata and 80g ide which I added designated F:\. I arranged a 15g partition on the 80g designated L:\. I have gone through "page 1" to install ubuntu. When I get to "Prepare partitions" I see a box with:- /dev/hda1 ntfs /media/hda1 63383mb 13400mb /dev/hda2 ntfs /media/hda2 16639mb 35mb /dev/sda /dev/sda1 fat32 /media/sda1 6292mb 34000mb /dev/sda2 ntfs /media/sda2 3320mb 18700mb freespace 8mb /dev/sda3/ ntfs media/sda3 12536mb 17900mb Clicking on "New partition table" produces a box with the legend "You have selected a device to partition etc" What do I do now and how can I ensure that Linux is loaded on to F:/ preferably to the partition L:/ or do I have to delete the "L" partition on my F:/ disk and let ubuntu find its own way? The easiest way to install and dual boot Ubuntu desktop is to create BUT don't format the partition. Say you have 30gig of free space. Boot up ubuntu and install with "Automatically use largest available contiguous free space". This will use the 30gig free space and cut it in 3 diffent partitions, /boot, /, and /swp automaticaly. Then just install lilo or grub as normal.
