A Clockwork Orange, or Tick-Tock Trouble...

Ok so I have an annoying problem. I run a dual boot (separate HDDs) Debian Sarge and Windows XP Pro box. Now whenever I boot up linux, it somehow adjusts the time in Windows to the wrong time. Not sure if this a windows or linux problem, but how do I prevent this, or at least set the time correctly. I live in US Pacific Standard Time, which is UT -8 hours. It seems NTP support is not running, though i swear I followed a post from Falco on how to set it up. Any advice anyone?

Well ok window's time stays ok, but now my linux time is 7 hours behind. I have the right time zone, but the wrong time, and internet time just shows an @. Any idea how to auto set the clock without NTP?

Well the problem that I'm having is when i change the time in linux, somehow tyhe time in windows is changed as well, and vice versa. That's what I'm trying to prevent. Not even sure why that's happening, BIOS shows correct time whenever i check it, but the OS's seem to be fighting it out. It's a 7 hour difference, if i adjust my linux time up 7 hours to the correct time, then windows falls behind 7 hours, and then if i set that back up 7 hours, then linux falls behind 7 hours again. Very strange

Ok i'll try this out. I found a funny workaround myself. I changed my time zone from America/Los Angeles to Atlantic/St Helena, and now time is correct on both OS's
Weird. I checked my BIOS time and it's correct, but I'll reset the time zone back to LA and try these commands out

 

bah, no luck, the OS's are still fighting over the time. Can't we all just get along??

 

I think this has something to do with windows wanting the bios clock set to local time which is PST for me, and Debian seems to be adjusting this back 7 hours. I think it has something to do with the timezone being set incorrectly, but i thought i set it to local time when i originally installed Debian. When i recompiled the kernel, something was changed somehow.
you guys have any ideas where i should look to check this?
