Hello and thanks for an excellent software! I've followed the "perfect server" guide (centos 5.6 and ISPconfig 3). I can login to my mail using squirrelmail, and I can send and receive mail. The problem I'm facing is that I cant get my mail client to download or send the e-mails. I get no errors at all. It tries to fetch the mail, then it just stops (no timeout error). I'm also wondering what will happen when I add domains to my site... Following the guide I used my domain name (px08.net) instead of server1.example.com. I've got that domain pointing to my server and it works. But what will happen when I point other domains to the same server? Will they have to use mail.px08.net to connect (using a mail client) the server? I've created both mx and A for the mail.px08.net (it points to my servers IP) Main.cf hosts file
BTW: "You have included 5 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again. Images include use of smilies, the BB code tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator." This is pretty stupid when I paste logs that cotain "smilies".. netstat -tap [QUOTE] Active Internet connections (servers and established) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 *: imaps *:* LISTEN 5624/dovecot tcp 0 0 *: pop3s *:* LISTEN 5624/dovecot tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:10024 *:* LISTEN 1760/amavisd (maste tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:10025 *:* LISTEN 3594/master tcp 0 0 *:mysql *:* LISTEN 1708/mysqld tcp 0 0 *: pop3 *:* LISTEN 5624/dovecot tcp 0 0 *:5902 *:* LISTEN 1958/Xvnc tcp 0 0 localhost.local:dyna-access *:* LISTEN 1627/clamd tcp 0 0 *:imap *:* LISTEN 5624/dovecot tcp 0 0 *:sunrpc *:* LISTEN 1296/portmap tcp 0 0 px08.net:http static243-212-105.mim:55339 SYN_RECV - tcp 0 0 *:ftp *:* LISTEN 1874/pure-ftpd (SER tcp 0 0 px08.net:domain *:* LISTEN 1279/named tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomai:domain *:* LISTEN 1279/named tcp 0 0 *ftp *:* LISTEN 1328/rpc.statd tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:ipp *:* LISTEN 1614/cupsd tcp 0 0 *:smtp *:* LISTEN 3594/master tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:rndc *:* LISTEN 1279/named tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:59392 localhost.localdomain:mysql ESTABLISHED 1787/amavisd (ch2-a tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:mysql localhost.localdomain:59392 ESTABLISHED 1708/mysqld tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:imap localhost.localdomain:42519 TIME_WAIT - tcp 0 0 px08.net:5902 gatekeeper.alesund.ko:23634 ESTABLISHED 1958/Xvnc tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:imap localhost.localdomain:42521 TIME_WAIT - tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:imap localhost.localdomain:42522 TIME_WAIT - tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:mysql localhost.localdomain:38692 ESTABLISHED 1708/mysqld tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:38692 localhost.localdomain:mysql ESTABLISHED 1788/amavisd (ch2-a tcp 0 0 px08.net:36242 ey-in-f100.1e100.net:http ESTABLISHED 2247/firefox tcp 0 0 px08.net:36239 ey-in-f100.1e100.net:http ESTABLISHED 2247/firefox tcp 0 0 *:imaps *:* LISTEN 5624/dovecot tcp 0 0 *: pop3s *:* LISTEN 5624/dovecot tcp 0 0 *: pop3 *:* LISTEN 5624/dovecot tcp 0 0 *:imap *:* LISTEN 5624/dovecot tcp 0 0 *:webcache *:* LISTEN 1861/httpd tcp 0 0 *:http *:* LISTEN 1861/httpd tcp 0 0 *:tproxy *:* LISTEN 1861/httpd tcp 0 0 *:ftp *:* LISTEN 1874/pure-ftpd (SER tcp 0 0 *:domain *:* LISTEN 1279/named tcp 0 0 *:ssh *:* LISTEN 1605/sshd tcp 0 0 localhost6.localdomain:rndc *:* LISTEN 1279/named tcp 0 0 px08.net:http px08.net:48139 TIME_WAIT - tcp 0 0 px08.net:http static243-212-105.mim:55340 TIME_WAIT - tcp 0 0 px08.net:http gatekeeper.alesund.ko:57403 TIME_WAIT - tcp 0 2592 px08.net:ssh gatekeeper.alesund.ko:44473 ESTABLISHED 16893/1 [/QUOTE]
I don't get any errors.. If I tail the maillog when I try to "collect" mail with thunderbird, nothing happens.
Ok I was wrong. I cant receive mail! Only from internal adresses. If I try to mail my self from my gmail adress, I don't get anything. And the maillog shows nothing..
I sending a email from a local account to the same account with e.g. squirrelmail works, then the server is ok and your problem is either a dns issue of your mail domain or if your server is behind a router or dsl line, it might be that the router or dsl provider blocks port 25.
I'm not behind a router, I'm on DMZ. I should be able to connect to my domain and download the mails. Atleast see something in the maillog. If I try to telnet port 25 and 143 I can't connect. But the IP that shows is the correct one for the domain. I'm stuck!
Ok, so your behind a router if you are in a dmz. Please check your router settings as the services are all running fine on your server. If the dmz does not work (which I've seen with several routers), use port forwarding instead.
You're right! I rent a VPS and in the web panel it's a firewall. I disabled it and it works Thanks for your help! Could you please tell me what to do when I want more domains with mail on the server?
