I have centos up and running. I followed the step by step and have a few questions. 1) on my server I can type in my www.devilschild.org and it goes to it but not on any other computers not sure why. I can typed in th ip on other comps and I get the apache test page. (I am using a linksys router and have the port forwarding setup.) 2) what folder do I upload my script to so that I can run it from the web? 3) which control panel is better ispconfig or cpanel? I have ispconfig install now but also have cpanel pro on disc. I do have a static IP. I did have the site hosted at globat and had them change the ns to ns1.devilschild.org and ns2.devilschild.org plus the a record to point to my static IP. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for my ignorance on this but I am trying to learn and have been doing a lot of reading.
on the box that does not understand the name but can get to the ip, do dig www.devlchilds.org and see what it comes up with.
when I dig www.devilschild.org I get the following: global options: printcmd connection timed out; no servers could be reached I am confused. Please help.
is this server also the host pc for www.devilschild.org ? If so, there could be a couple of things going on here. A: Your registar may have messed up and not done the proper registration changes for changing your IP. B: Or, you have a firewall on the server that is blocking anything to do with DNS C: Or, your connection to the internet is preventing access. given the result of the dig, I would think the problem is A.
