    Hi guys,

I just configured Nagios on a Debian Squeeze (instead of Lenny, considering the Howto you provide here ), but I can't get the mail notification working.

I receive the same messages again and again :
    Apr 18 22:27:54 nagios postfix/smtp[14606]: connect to mail.domain.net [XXX.XXX.XXX.XX]:25: Connection timed out
    Apr 18 22:27:54 nagios postfix/smtp[14606]: 4985E1E04D: to=<[email protected]>, relay=none, delay=417, delays=396/0.02/21/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to mail.domain.net[XXX.XXX.XXX.XX]:25: Connection timed out)
Apr 18 22:27:54 nagios postfix/smtp[14607]: connect to mail.domain.net[XXX.XXX.XXX.XX]:25: Connection timed out
    Apr 18 22:27:54 nagios postfix/smtp[14607]: 7F43E1E045: to=<[email protected]>, orig_to=<root@localhost>, relay=none, delay=417, delays=396/0.02/21/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to mail.domain.net[XXX.XXX.XXX.XX]:25: Connection timed out)

    Any ideas ?
Could it be a relay issue ?

    Any help/idea welcome !

    Regards,
    S.

Is mail.domain.net a remote server? If so, please check if your server is blacklisted: http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx

    Mail server blacklist

    Hi Falko,

Thank you for your kind answer.

Yes, mail.domain.net is a remote server.

    No, it is not blacklisted.

I keep searching why it failed...

    Regards,

    Problem solved

    Guys,

I solved the problem by configuring postfix to use a smarthost, ie my provider smtp server...

Thank you Falko for your time.

    Kind regards,

    S.
