I have today done a fresh install of ipsconfig on karmic koala as per the perfect install howto. I'm having a little trouble getting started to be honest.

I want to be in the situation to run my own name server on this machine and host a couple of domains on it running different sites.

I have a domain that wish to use as the name server domain which is registered with fasthosts/ukreg. I also have a couple of other domains that I wish to host on my own server. I have a static IP address which forwards all http traffic to my server that has an internal lan static IP.

From what I understand, if you have ispconfig up and running then you already have a dns service running? I'm just not quite sure where to start.

Should I start with the DNS name server problem or the adding of sites? Any help or pointers much appreciated.

Ok I think I got that done alright. I'm just waiting now for the registrar to glue the records.

In the mean time, I have added a site and ftp'd some content into it. How can I navigate to the content through a browser?

The schlunde method was most similar to my registrar fasthost/ukreg and it seemed to work well. There is another issued I have with .com domains but I've started that in another thread.

Having used the schlund method on ispconfig3, using ns10.schlundtech.de as the secondary name server, i found on ispconfig the field 'Allow zone transfers to
    these IPs (comma separated list)'.

I presume I have to put in here the ip of the secondary name server? How do I find this out?

    Yes.

    Code:
    dig ns10.schlundtech.de
