    Hi,

I read this thread https://www.howtoforge.com/community/threads/ispconfig-3-email-routing.79223/ and I have a similar issue with my a customer on office365 that also want some extra emails not on O365.

I configured Email - Global Filter - Relay recipients:
    server: myispconfig01
    relay recipient: @customer.domain.com
    Active: check

Also I added in Email - Email accounts - Email Routing
    server : myispconfig01
    domain: customer.domain.com
    type: smtp
    MX lookup: unchecked
    Destination: smtp:customer.mail.protection.outlook.com.
    Sort by: 5
    Active checked

So when I log into roundcube and try to send an email to an O365 boxe, I get the error that the user unknown in the virtual mailbox table.

One of the solution was to remove the mail domain, but don't understand how would this be possible to create email on ISPConfig without the domaine.

    Thank you

If you create e-mail domain customer.domain.com on your ISPConfig host and from that host try to send to [email protected] the e-mail goes to that same ISPConfig e-mail server. In this case email server does not look up the MX record for the customer domain since it already "knows" it handles that e-mail domain itself.

    Taleman,

Thank you for your reply, the MX is pointing to the microsoft 365 exchange. I don't know how the mail flow connectors works on O365, but it works in that direction, meaning that if an email is not present on O365 it will forward it to my ISPConfig server.

The problem I'm having is when a ISPConfig needs to send email to O365. I solved it by creating the same O365 email on ISPConfig with forwarders using the onmicrosoft.com secondary email. But that will prevent endlessloop between the two. So I would think this is a good solution.

    Hi Taleman.

Is there no way GUI or CLI to force the server to perform lookup for mailboxes that don't exist in the local table to reroute to the routing entries?
