All mail goes into /var/spool/mail

    I setup a system following the Virtual Users And Domains With Postfix, Courier, MySQL And SquirrelMail (Ubuntu 9.04) guide.

    When I sent a mail using the mailx command I received the mail just fine in squirrelmail.

    When I send mail from outside the system or by using fetchmail. All of the mail goes into /var/spool/mail

    Not sure what I have set up wrong. I have another system that is set up the same way that seems to work and I've compared the various configs but I cannot seem to locate where the problem is.

    Post your main.cf file.

    Is that the whole file?

    Are there any errors in your mail log?

    That's the whole thing.

    Here's the only error I can find in the mail.log

    Nov 17 00:00:09 mail2 postfix/trivial-rewrite[7207]: warning: do not list domain mail2.evil-monkey.org in BOTH mydestination and virtual_mailbox_domains

    In your postfix main.cf change the line
    mydestination = mail2.evil-monkey.org, localhost, localhost.localdomain
    to
    mydestination = localhost, localhost.localdomain

    I had this same problem just yesterday and after I made the change, squirrel mail started working.

    I made the change and now it's delivering to the maildir. The problem now is that the mail is going to the wrong maildir.

    Mail should be going to /home/vmail/evil-monkey.org/reggie
    The mail is going to /home/vmail/reggie/reggie

    Not sure why that is happening, but if it might help I will post my main.cf file here; only my mail goes to /var/vmail (/domainname/username).
    Perhaps you could retain that line as : virtual_mailbox_base = /home/vmail instead of my virtual_mailbox_base = /var/vmail
    Let me know of it helps!

    I still have not been able to get my mail to go to the right place. Going to post my main.cf again in case anyone out there wants to take a shot at this issue.
