    Hi
I have Authentication failed when trying to add mail address to a Gmail.

I have made a self signed certificate when installing the server.
I have the same problem with several different domains on the server.
Error from Gmail (see picture) :
"Authentication failed. Please check your username/password.
Server returned error: "TLS Negotiation failed, the certificate doesn't match the host., code: 0""

Also when using outlook i get a warning about certifikat that name is not correct, and if i click "show certifikat" the name is the server name and not the mail domain. ??

I found this link, but I am not sure if it is the right thing to use on my installation, and if it will solve my problems with the domains ??

Thanks Th0m i will try it tomorrow.

Do i have to run the scripts once with server host name or run it and change name for every domain i have ?
    (replace sitename-in-ispconfig.com with the hostname)
    Sorry i am just a newbie ;)

No, you should only do it for one site, otherwise you will keep replacing it with other domains. So e.g. if you have yourcompany.com and clientdomain.com, you should issue the cert for mail.yourcompany.com and let client with clientdomain.com connect to mail.yourcompany.com

    Thanks again Th0m

I just tried and follow the tutorial, and have problems.
    My servername = isp2.my-domain.com
    I also have a website = my-domain.com

DNS (I use external DNS) =
    isp2.my-domain.com
    my-domain.com
    mail.my-domain.com
all is pointing on my wan ip on the ispsonfig server.

I add a new website in ispconfig under “sites” tab and call it: isp2.my-domain.com
    And check “Lets encrypt”

    I receive a mail with error :
WARNING - Could not verify domain www.isp2.my-domain.com so excluding it from letsencrypt request.

I run the scripts with mail.my-domaine.com
After this I cant send or receive mail in outlook (2010) , and I still can’t add mail address to a Gmail (see picture below )

I revert to current snapshot and mail Is working again in outlook.

I also tried and make site with mail.my-domain.com and run the script with isp2.my-domain.com and I could not make an account in gmail.

I have checked with https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html#hostname=********** and everything look ok (green)

This error is because you have auto-subdomain enabled. Disable that under site settings.

If you want a cert for mail.example.com, you have to create a site "mail.example.com" and then follow the steps of the tutorial.

Sorry I didn’t get any better results with that solution.

Can’t add mail address to a Gmail
Can’t send or receive mails from different domains with outlook (2010)
https://mail.my-domain.com connection, site & certificate is safe, also after I revert to current snapshot ?.

I add a new website (se below) and run the scripts with mail.my-domaine.com :

    Web Domain setup:
    Server: isp2.my-domain.com
    Client : my-domain.com
    Domain: mail.my-domain.com
    Auto-Subdomain: None
    SSL: yes
    Let's Encrypt SSL: Yes

    No alias domain for website.

Again I revert to current snapshot and i can send & receive mail again in outlook (2010).

Did you replace sitename-in-ispconfig.com with mail.my-domain.com in both lines of the script? Did you see any errors? What does
    Code:
    ls -la /etc/postfix
    show after running it?

  9. Arne Ytting

Arne Ytting New Member HowtoForge Supporter

Yes I changed to mail.my-domain.com in 3 of the scripts, total of 5 lines.
No i did not see any errors.
I also changed the hostname on the server from isp2.another-domain to isp2.my-domain.com
Tried Reverse dns lookup and it still show isp2.another-domain and not the new name (isp2.my-domain.com) I gave the server.

    ls -la /etc/postfix
This is BEFORE I ran the scripts:
after I ran the scripts: Please see next messaged ( cant enter no more than 10000 characters. )

I did not understand much what is the actual problem, but this I can help with:
Reverse DNS is configured at the authoritative name server of that reverse zone, usually that is your Internet Service Provider or other party that gave you that IP-number. More info in DNS tutorial linked to in my signature.
You might also read the e-mail tutorial also linked to in my signature, to sort yout your e-mail setup.

And then it doesn't work? Do you see an error in your mail.log?

    + what @Taleman said.

    Thanks Taleman & Th0m

In the "mail warn log" there is a lot but i dont know hot to read/understand it:
Here is just 2 lines all the rest looks like them:
postfix/smtpd[7074]: warning: unknown[103.114.105.83]: SASL LOGIN authentication failed: UGFzc3dvcmQ6
Postfix/smtpd[8759]: warning: hostname ip-113-119.4vendeta.com does not resolve to address 78.128.113.119: Name or service not known

I will download the perfect server virtual image and try and make a new server from scratch.
Image = The Perfect Server - Debian 10 (Nginx, BIND, Dovecot, ISPConfig 3.1)

I found this tutorial about the virtual image #21 ( only says change passwords)
    https://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-debian-10-nginx-bind-dovecot-ispconfig-3.1/

Is there a other tutorial on what els to edit / change after installing the image ?

Those issues are not related. They are nothing to worry about.

No, there is no further tutorial afaik.

I think a reinstall is not needed, we just have to figure out what is going wrong. You can hire someone for professional support aswell ofcourse.

And now, many hours later I managed to install an new server for test :)

Everything seem to be working fine, until I install this scripts. :(
“I would follow these steps: https://www.howtoforge.com/communit...topped-sending-email.85381/page-2#post-410370 ".............Though I did it in a different way to have a different cert for mail then for the pa…………."

After running that no mail is working.
    SMTP and POP3-server goes offline
    Outlook 2010&2016 , can’t send or receive

I've not tried to follow this whole thread by any means, but it's certainly not clear (to me) what your current problem is after reinstalling/reverting/etc. From the last post, you reinstalled, had mail problems and bad ispconfig certificate, then reverted a snapshot and at least mail is working - are there any remaining issues? (still ispconfig cert or ?)

Yes Jesse, i cant get the lets encrypt cert working on mail accounts, and cant add a mail address to a gmail account.
If i follow this tutorial, the SMTP and POP3-server goes offline, and i am stuck there.
I made a snapshot just before i follow the tutorial, so i can go back where mail is working without lets encrypt cert. and try again.

Is the certificate you issue and use for Postfix valid for mail.mydomain.com?
