After spending more than a week in a hospital, I'm now back to working. And so I'll need to ask some questions! Firstly, and I hope someone could tell me something about that, could it be possible to use Excel Worksheets, with a lot attached Links, from within WebDAV for to even edit such worksheets? Or did someone know a better way for such work to access such Excel files via the Internet? Also, is there an easy Tutorial for WebDAV available? Thanks for any answer.
Maybe you should take a look at onlyoffice which can be integrated with owncloud and nextcloud. I don't have a tutorial regarding WebDAV. if you refer to the WebDAV function in ISPConfig, then all you need is to have the apache mod_dav module installed, then you can create WebDAV users directly from within ISPConfig (see also ISPConfig manual).
Thanks Till. Regarding Excel, OnlyOffice will not work as needed, the customer checked that already. The simple question are: if the Worksheets are accessible via the Internet, could they're edited online or not? All those worksheets in questions are set for Multiuser use and shared already. Regarding WebDAV: if a WebDAV user is created in ISPC, could be the same Worksheets are used as from within Samba? Means, those data need not to uploaded twice and use on a different location on the Server, instead, the exact same Data could be used via Samba AND via WebDAV? Thanks for any advice.
I do not use Excel like that, so I can't give you any details on how to achieve that or tell you how excel will react in the different setups. The best might be that you just try it out. Personally, I won't run a samba server on a web server. But if you want to run samba anyway, then you can use samba for the file access and don't need webdav anymore.
Thanks Till. So, that means that the use of the same data on the Server for both Samba and WebDAV isn't possible? The Samba would be used internally only, not from The Web. Just the question is: could the same Data files are used for both: Samba and WebDAV? Or would use of WebDAV only be advised, if it's possible to edit and work on those Excel Worksheets online? I'm not an Excel specialist at all! Thanks again.
Most likely you can use the same data by directing both applications to the same directory and let both use the same user to access the data. Of course, you will have to ensure that no simultanious access occurs, not sure if file locking will work reliably then. As I said already above, I do not use excel like that, so you will have to try if it works or not.
Thanks Till. Will take a test tomorrow with that! All Worksheets in use are set to Multiuser use! That said, there shouldn't be a problem with simultaneous access. OK, let see tomorrow?! Beside of that, I'll maybe try OnlyOffice on my own Server. I'm not a heavy user of Excel at all!
