I hope this is the right place to ask this question. I've looked at the backup howtos that's been posted here. I've successfully implemented backuppc on a system to backup few windows xp's and ubuntu boxes over the network The problem that I am having is this. Windows file structure does not give access to open or locked files/folders (ie. registry files, outlook data files, microsoft sql database). So backuppc will exclude these files in the backup job. But it just so happens that those are the files that I really need to back up. I understand that I need to close these apps, but it defeats the whole purpose of having automated backup solution. Is there a better backup solution for windows? I just did a quick search on RESTORE's features and it seems to be in the same boat as backuppc regarding this issue. Thanks in advance for your input on this.
