All I can say at the moment is that ClamAV sucks. I do not know what the alternative is anyway to fix clamAV or replace it for good would be appreciated. It started with freshclam failing because clam apparently is not compatible with its self and can not run its won scripts. Then clam will not properly upgrade via apt-get and still stinks. The FAQ profides a few scripts that are inconclusive at best. After apt-get autoremove clamav, and reboot freshclam failed again. uninstalled clamav again and found that some old clam was still saying around. I removed the freshclam.conf ran apt-get install clamav and the installation did not replace the files. So clam is hosed How do I fix/reinstall ClamAV or replace it with something that is not such a hassle or works better.
HOw does one get rid of the clam virus? clamav (0.97.5+dfsg-1) unstable; urgency=medium This release of clamav no longer ships signature files in clamav-base so no signatures are available until after freshclam has run and downloaded them. This is an upstream change. Just like any other virus it appears to be a bitch to completely remove.
