    hi falko the guru,

I've been involved with this client for over 2 years to look after his linux-based server. system config is not much, pretty down to the earth standard with sles9 and sles8+slox. today got a call, he and his partner will 'divorce' each other in term of email and file server, but still use the same house address (or domain name), but they want a separate mailbox (hence mail server). could you give a hint of what I could do with the existing setup that i tried out to achieve that? what is the requirement to split the email server under one domain name, in which each user from different boss will be on different server and mailbox. also internet connection will be shared as well.

thank you in advance if you're kind to suggest me something.

Simply give each user a separate mail box.

    email routing

    Hi falko,

Alright, so I do need two mail server with 1 domain. Technically what I don't know is how I could separate mailboxes into different mail server and still use one domain name. I guess my question is, how would one server know that server A has jane, john, james, while server B has bob, brenda and britney since presumably the MX record of axxxxn.com.au will point to the existing server.

    any idea? thank's for replying

You can use different mail boxes on the same server - you don't need a second one.
