Hi!!! First of all, MANY thanx for your beautiful guide.. Following it, now I have beryl installed.. Please, could you be so kind to answer to this little question.. I have an ati radeon x600.. After installing beryl with your guide, all worked.. Then, I installed awn (advant window navigator) and all was good.. Then, I had the bad idea to enable desktop effects on gnome menu... and began the caos.. Now I have a BIG black line at the bottom of the screen which makes the monitor visibility littler and beryl windows effects are not working :-( I tried to remove desktop effects from ubuntu, with success, but the problem remains.. Sorry for my bad english, I'm italian.. Do you have some advices?? Many thanks!! Daniela
Are there any errors related to this in the logs (in the /var/log directory)? You can also check the /etc/X11 directory, maybe the system has created a backup of your working xorg.conf file before you enabled the desktop effects.
