Which Linux distribution would you recommend for a student who just began learning the world of Linux? I plan on earning my Linux+ certification and eventually going into cloud security/architecting.
Debian and Ubuntu LTS is stable enough for you to use in order to learn and master your linux basics.
To tell you the truth, I started IT as a hobby, a side thing in my life. As a citizen of a third world country, IT was very lacking back when I started learning them in 1990. Then in my pre-u, I started joining IT Club in 1992 where I get involve in IT Training a little bit more deeply. There we organized IT classes, training programs and even IT days for students until I left the club in 1997 as I entered my third and final years in laws (which is not IT). After I graduated, I tried to continue with Master in IT Management, which I thought might be related to laws and could be useful to my career. However, due to heavy daily tasks while reading in my master's chamber, I dropped my study, and never had a chance to continue further thereafter as I went practicing full-fledged after being called to the bar. That said IT has always been my main hobby even when my carreer was in different profession altogether and I keep getting involved with various IT related forums. Last year, after 20 years in legal field, I decided to started a private limited company in IT Services and fully ceased practise as a legal practitoner starting early this year. That story shared, my advice is pretty simple, do what is best for you and your family, and keep up with the latest IT development, not just linux, because they are all related, even if your career focuses mainly on linux.
