Hello, Could someone tell me what the VERY best Linux distribution is for ISPConfig 3. A detailed, very specific version would be great. It is my understanding that it is Debian based, but I would like to know the EXACT release that is currently the best and easiest to get along with ISPConfig 3. Thanks for the help.
The current stable Debian version is Debian 6 and the guide to install ISPConfig on it can be found here: http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-debian-squeeze-with-bind-and-dovecot-ispconfig-3
I'm running several virtual machines on a ispconfig based environment, using the lastest release of Debian 6 with everything up to date, works like a charm.
Great, I know that between Till and Falko I have about alienated myself from HowToForge in frustration over my boxes. I have been using Fedora 14 and for some reason, it seems to be a very finicky distribution. Granted there has been user error on the way, and I have learned more about load balancing and such, but I keep hearing time and again that Fedora is better for a desktop environment. So, I think I'll listen to the masses. Debian 6 it is... Thanks for the response!
Ah, Half the battle comes in clarification. The Debian 6.0.3 "Squeeze" in 64 bit is available in two versions. For anyone that would like to use this version of Linux...before buying or burning available .iso files, be certain of what your processor / system is capable of. Two 64 bit versions: ia64 - Works with Itanium grade processors only! amd64 -Works with processors like core i3, i5, and i7 More information on this available on Wikipedia!
