Hi. What would be the best tool to configure multiple config files in different servers at the same time ? Ansible or Puppet ? Or some other tool. Im tired of logging in on many servers doing the same thing, ie like changing /etc/postfix/main.cf for the spamfilters. Which one are you using ? That does not interfere with ISPconfig ofc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_open-source_configuration_management_software
I'm not using any tool yet, but plan to use Ansible. Ordered a book already. But the online docs look very good too. I asked a colleague about this, he has used both Puppet and Ansible, and suggested nowadays it is better to use Ansible.
I've not used puppet. I have used ansible, and to be honest, the bits about using it with aws and dynamic inventories still confuses the hell out of me. but for actually connecting to a server and installing and configuring all the software, it's great. although I wish they'd stop changing the required syntax for some things on every update to it, that gets annoying.
I tried Ansible, and it was super easy after using ssh-keys. First thing was to check "mailq" on all servers Ispconfig suck at that if you have more than 1.
