    Hello,
i am new in VPS/debian ale just learning. I used manuals and try configure and secure my own vps. My website working fine, emails too.

I would like to ask, what is the best way to backup my server? In case, i do some update or install something and my server stop working - will be broke and i can not find solution how to fix it. In this case is maybe best and fast way to taky my backups, do reinstall of vps and backups upload to new server.

is sufficient to do just backup of all system files via SFTP? And in case i need then reupoload back to new server?

Thank you, i take a look. I am using Debian 9 and just would like to have any backups of my VPS in case something going wrong. In this case just take my backups and upload to new clear VPS server with debian 9. But i am not sure if i have to do just backup of files via SFTP and in case this files upload to new server via sftp or something else.

For example i just found backup manager here https://packages.debian.org/stretch/backup-manager

Is your VPS a virtual machine? Then there should be a way to dump that to an image that can be restored or copied to another virtual machine.
