Cannont Type Into Password Fields at Console

At console, i can type whenever i want; however, when i want to enter a password or passcode it wont let be type. It just shows the cursor blinking. I have tried this directly and via ssh with both CentOS4.4 and Fedora 6, still same. Any Suggestions?

That's the normal behaviour. The cursor doesn't move when you type in a password because otherwise other people that see this would know how long your password is.
Just type in the password and press ENTER.
