    I need some help. I have tried to get my email to work repeatedly using UebiMiau, RoundCube and SquirrelMail. I thought I followed the installation instructions correctly, but in each case I get I think, the same problem, UebiMiau and SquirrelMail says I am using the wrong username and/or password. RoundCube just gives me a blank page after I type in the Username and Password. I used the Ubuntu 6.06 Perfect Setup and installed ISPConfig. Got a couple of websites to work and FTP from ISPConfig or a third party app works just fine. Can someone please help?

    Does a normal email client like outlook or thunderbird work?
    Do you get any errors in your mail log?

    The login username for uebimiau is your email address, not your username.

    Thanks for responding. When I use a Third Party email I get the same problem. Username or password wrong. I have confirmed that the Username and Password that I am using is correct.
    UebiMiau directory does not have any error files or log files as it says I am using the wrong Username and Password. Roundcube does have an error file, it says that the maximum execution time has been exceeded, as this program is the one that after I put in my Username and Password, after a long wait just goes to a blank page.
    I am using my email address in UebiMaiu. I am at a loss, I really do appreciate you help.
    Thanks...

    Please check your mail log for errors (in the directory /var/log).

    Is the user you use to connect to listed in /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow?
    Have you send an email to this useraccount?

    rRe: cannot login to email

    OK, here is what I found.

    The "mail.log" file only has:
    Jul 30 23:59:05 server1 postfix/master[27808]: daemon started -- version 2.2.10, configuration /etc/postfix

    The "mail.err" file has:
    Jul 30 13:23:09 server1 imaplogin: LOGIN FAILED, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
    Jul 30 13:23:44 server1 last message repeated 2 times

    The "mail.err.0" file has:
    Jul 29 09:57:55 server1 courierpop3login: LOGIN FAILED, ip=[::ffff:XX.XX.XX.XXX]
    Jul 29 10:05:24 server1 imaplogin: LOGIN FAILED, ip=[::ffff:XX.XX.XX.XXX]
    Jul 29 10:05:24 server1 imaplogin: DISCONNECTED, ip=[::ffff:XX.XX.XX.XXX], time=5
    Jul 29 13:23:09 server1 imaplogin: LOGIN FAILED, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
    (This last message repeated 6 times at different times)

    In the /etc/passwd file there are lines for each of the users like:
    web1_kquinn:x:10001:10001:Kevin Quinn:/var/www/web1:/bin/false

    In the /etc/shadow file there are lines for each of the users like:
    web1_kquinn:u}ifGICgDM80o:13359:0:99999:7:::

    I sent an email to each user this morning and the email was not returned.

    I just looked at the "mail.info" file, it has more of the same "imaplogin: LOGIN FAILED" and LOGOUT errors but also has another error:

    Jul 30 13:23:09 server1 imaplogin: chdir Maildir: No such file or directory

    SO, I looked for the Maildir directory on each user using the ISPConfig FTP client. Neither user had a Maildir directory. I went to ISPConfig and un-checked the Maildir option and saved then I re-checked the Maildir option and saved again. When I went back to look if I could find the Maildir directory on the first user using the ISPConfig FTP client no Maildir was found. When I tried to login to the other user using the ISPConfig FTP client, I got the following errors (Note: I tried this three times):

    Warning: include(/home/admispconfig/ispconfig/web//lib/module.inc.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/lib/session.inc.php on line 240

    Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '/home/admispconfig/ispconfig/web//lib/module.inc.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:') in /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/lib/session.inc.php on line 240

    When I tried to login using a third party FTP client to see if the Maildir had been created,I was successful, but still no Maildir. I don't know if this has anything to do with my email login problem but it seemed like no Maildir sure could be! Thanks again for all the help!!

    Maildir is created when the first email for your user arrives on your server.
    What's the domain you're trying to send to? Is it listed in /etc/postfix/local-host-names?

    Checked the local-host-names file and found the domains that I am trying to send mail to.

    Update-- I just got the emails back that I sent. Error code 554 user does not have an account at XXX.domain.

    Re: cannot login to email...still

    Hi guys, I am back! After a crash of a three week old hard drive I have replaced the drive and have carefully re-installed Ubuntu 6.06 following Falko's Perfect Setup and installed ISPConfig. No errors during setup were noted. I was able to setup websites without a problem but have slammed into a brick wall attempting email setup. I do believe I am farther along in the process than I was before "the crash". The problem remains the same, username and password incorrect when attempting to connect using UebiMiau or a third party mail client. That said here is a couple of the things I have checked so far:
    1. Mail.log contains the following:

    Aug 6 20:06:22 server1 postfix/smtpd[29910]: connect from smtp113.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com[68.142.198.212]
    Aug 6 20:06:22 server1 postfix/smtpd[29913]: connect from smtp113.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com[68.142.198.212]
    Aug 6 20:06:22 server1 postfix/smtpd[29910]: 4DA823C044: client=smtp113.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com[68.142.198.212]
    Aug 6 20:06:22 server1 postfix/smtpd[29913]: 534E83C045: client=smtp113.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com[68.142.198.212]
    Aug 6 20:06:22 server1 postfix/cleanup[29916]: 4DA823C044: message-id=<[email protected]>

    This entry coincides with my attempt to send mail to 2 users on this server.

    2. the password file has these entries but am not sure if it should have more entries for the email:

    web1_dnevels:x:10001:10001:David Nevels:/var/www/web1:/bin/false
    web5_kquinn:x:10002:10005:Kevin Quinn:/var/www/web5:/bin/false

    3. /etc/shadow also contains a line for each of the users

    4. Both domains are listed in the local-host-names file

    5. domain names in question are:
    oaabaseball.org and davidnevels.net

    I have checked ISPConfig and confirmed the Mailuser login has been checked and I think I setup my MX correct. What am I missing?? Thanks in advance for any help you will give.

    If you use the Maildir format you have to enable this.
    You can do this in ISPConfig under Management>Settings>Email.
    Maybe this helps you.
    Good luck!

    Thank you very much. That was the one thing I was missing. Everything seems to be working good now.
