Hi there. I'm running CentOS5.5 and I've followed HowtoForge's fantastic guide to get it all up and running they way I want it too. Unfortunately however I cannot login to Squirrelmail or even get my e-mail to work at all from my BlackBerry. I'm brand new to CentOS and I'm very used to Windows Server - but as it recently crashed I decided to migrate to a new OS; so I followed the guide to the letter. The only thing I did not do is on page 4 - the links didn't work for dovecot so I found the links for the updated version: Code: rpm -ivh http://packages.atrpms.net/dist/el5/dovecot/dovecot-2.0.5-1_120.el5.i386.rpm rpm -ivh http://packages.atrpms.net/dist/el5/dovecot-sieve/dovecot-sieve-0.1.18-6.el5.i386.rpm I also tried this step as advised. But by doing so made dovecot stop working and the only way I could get it to work was not follow this command. Everything else however I followed to the letter and it almost works great. I've figured out how to setup a client, domain, an e-mail domain and mailbox but when I try and login to webmail it states that Unknown user or password incorrect. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot get my head round it! ISPConfig 3 doesn't work with Dovecot 2.x - you need 1.2.x. You can find the latest Dovecot 1.2.x here: http://packages.atrpms.net/dist/el5/dovecot-1.2.x/ And dovecot-sieve can be found here: http://packages.atrpms.net/dist/el5/dovecot-sieve/
That's brilliat Falko, thank you very much. I ran the isntallation, changed the configuration in Squirrelmail and reinstalled ISPCONFIG. I can now login with my details however it's not sending and receiving e-mail form outside the server! Ah dear me...
Hi there I sorted most of it, just needed to restart amasivid and that other one beginning with a! aust somthing or other.... The only problem I face now is I'm unable to send e-mail to hotmail due to the fact that I have a dynamic ip address. I've tried adding O2's relay - relay.o2broadband.co.uk but it doesn't seem to work as hotmail return the mail.
Running a mailserver on a dynamic IP is a problem indeed and not all emailproviders work as relay. Which is the exact error message that hotmail returned and which are the corresponding lines for it in the mail log file?
This is the error... I use DNSexit - my mail gets delivered to everywhere else - just not hotmail. Code: <@hotmail.co.uk>: host mx3.hotmail.com[65.54.188.110] said: 550 DY-001 Unfortunately, messages from 94.194.109.151 weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider. You can tell them that Hotmail does not relay dynamically-assigned IP ranges. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors. (in reply to MAIL FROM command)
And you are sure that this email was sent trogh the o2 relay? Please post the lines that get added in the mail log file when you send a email to hotmail trough your server by using o2 as relay.

Also just to add. I used to use Windows Server 2008 with hMail server which worked okay and they were delivered. My Windows Server died though recently so I thought I'd have a bash at using CentOS - I know it can be done - just not sure how to get it to work and unfortunately I can't get my ISP to give me a static IP at the moment which puts me in a bit of a pickle!
The message was sent directly to hotmail and was not relayed trough o2. Please configure o2 as email relay in ispconfig under system > server config on the email tab. Then wait a few minutes and try again.

I've sorted it! I tried relay.o2broadband.co.uk but to my understanding that does not need authentication to send and as far as I am aware ISPconfig does need it to be authenticated. So I used smtp.o2.co.uk with my username and password. This worked instantly... Brilliant! Thank you for your help Till and Falko. Greatly appreciated.
