hi all i installed ispconfig a week or so ago and i thought the mail was working but it aint i cant receive mail, i tried a few things and it work once or twice then stop again, but looking up my mx records its never found them even though i have done this: A record ip address hostname internal ip domian.com external ip mail cname hostname target www domain.com ftp domain.com mx mailserver hostname mail.domain.com domain.com spf hostname domain.com can anyone see what im doing wrong thanks paul
What's the output of Code: dig ns yourdomain.com ? That shows you what nameservers are authoritative for your domain, and that's where you must create/modify your DNS records.
right i got back answer domain.com. 172800 in ns server1.domain2.com. domain.com. 172800 in ns server1.domain2.com. i have tried swapping the mailserver on the mx records from mail.domain.com with server1.domain2.com but it still dont work, but the dns records that im changing are on that server i installed ispconfig a while back and i got it working but i cant remember what i did!
