Hi, I'm new to linux and Ispconfig, so still have a lot to learn. Anyway, I've installed subuntu 6.10 server and Ispconfig using the server name "server1.sample.com", but would now like to change it to something else. I would be very grateful if you could you please tell me what files I need to change to accomplish this. Best wishes, Tom

Thanks Denmaus, for your good advice. I've managed sort out the name change. But now I'm doing battle with my linksys firewall router . All I'm trying to do is to set up a home server so I can run my own website from home, so maybe Ispconfig is not the right tool? Best wishes, Tom
This has nothing to do with ISPConfig. You must forward all needed ports (e.g. 21, 22, 25, 80, 81, 110, 143, 443) from your router to your ISPConfig system.
In forwarding, set Ext.Port 80 to 80 (this is for Apache's websites) Set protocol TCP Set IP Address to the one running ISPconfig Set Enable to on Click on Apply Do the same for FTP, POP3, SMTP, and all other ports you use! If you try to access the website on the server from your LAN, make sure that you add the LAN IP of the server, and Domain to the HOSTS file from the system that you are using to access the website (more info). SME Server for home use i recommend also the SME-Server (it's free like ISP-Config) it's based on RHEL and it is optimal for home users. Samba, ftp, apache ... comes all from the box! Thanks guys for all your help. I'm getting a bit of an expert now at installing Ubuntu and Ispconfig - after about a dozen re-installs , So I'll give Smeserver a try to see if it's more 'Dummy' friendly. Cheers, Tom
