Currently ispconfig only allows document root to be like:

    /home/clientid/

I would like for them to be
    /home/clientname

When i changed this to clientname it does not see that as a valid variable passed.

am I missing something here? Can this be done?

ISPConfig is a well versed tool, and it manages all the configurations automatically. So manual changes must be avoided, they will be not functional.

You can only use the variables that are available for a field. For the paths you can only use variables that cant change after initial creation of the website, the clientname can be changed, so it cant be used there. ISPConfig creates symlinks for easy access to all directories, so you dont have to care about the numbers as you can access the websites by their domain name.
