I was using winscp on my pc to connect to my serve and work on it. I built a new pc and when I tried to connect to my server it will not allow me to connect. I can connect from my old pc still. How do I get the new pc to connect? Is there a key I need to transfer to the new pc? Thanks
Firewall is off. I can connect to the servers with the user and password from web site (web1_u1 password), but I can not connect to the server using root and root password. But from the pc I use to use, I can connect as root from the root connection I had setup on that pc. Is there a way to trancfer the winSCP settings from the old pc to the new pc. Like a export settings in winSCP? I can also connect using putty with root and password on the new pc .
What's the error message you get in WinSCP? Does it say it cannot connect, or that it cannot authenticate? In the latter case you should check if you're using the right username and password.
first it tells me (waiting for welcome message) then it asks me to enter the password again. I enter it and it tells me again the same thing. then when I click on cancal, I get the message authenication failed. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the program. It did nothing to help. I am using root and the root password. I know it is corect because it works in putty. I delited the login profile I had on the old pc figuring that maybe because of that profile , it was not alowing the one on the new pc to work. Is there a place on the server I can delite the file that is holding some sort of login info from the first pc so that it will except the login info from the new pc ?
winSCP I tried to connect to the server using sftp instead of ftp and it connected. I will be able to use sftp to work on the server. That is strange that it would not connect to ftp. O well, I am glad I am able to connect. Thank you for the help.
