    Hi,
If I'm not wrong then the entry in the /etc/hosts file "127.0.1.1 server1.example.com server1" should be changed to the public IPv4 of a Root Server "211.221.231.241 server1.mydomain.com server1". If that's the case, should we then not also add the public IPv6 "2a04:3000:61:d7b::1 server1.mydomain.com server1" to the /etc/hosts file too?

You are correct in both cases. But not all hosts have IPv6 connection, so that address may not be needed. Or vice versa, if host has only IPv6 address, IPv4 is not needed in /etc/hosts.
