Confused about DNS

    Setup:
Debian/bind9 with vmware, then debian with ispconfig/mydns.

I cannot get the dns to resolve correctly. I am confused by reading all of the different setup options. I have a static ip and want to serve up other websites.

How do I go about setting up the dns to use the ispconfig/mydns settings. Bind redirect to mydns? This is my first go round with ispconfig on my own and throwing in vmware on top of it confuses the matter in my mind.

Do I just need to install ispconfig on the base debian install? I'm lost.

Please install your server as described in the perfect setup guide:

    http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-debian-lenny-ispconfig3

There are no setup options, just install exactly as described in the install guide. For example: bind is not even suppoerted by ispconfig 3.0.1.6, so its not an option to install it and thats why the install guide describes to install mydns and not bind. If you install bind, your setup can not work.

    Thank you Till.

I should get my head out of the clouds. I am going to uninstall vmware and set the server up with just the ispconfig/debian Lenny setup. Thanks once again.
