Why are you running the development version? The stable version is more reliable. Have you locked yourself out with the firewall? Try turning it of, can you then connect? You wrote Have you checked what does work? Can you access the installed host in some way? Can you ping it from your workstation?
Ah, I did not intend to install the dev version, thought I had grabbed the stable version. Otherwise I haven't locked myself out. Everything else on my server works just fine. I can connect through SSH, FTP, and Apache serves up webpages. It's only when I try to connect to port 8080 that it times out. I did enable that port in UFW, but not sure why it's not working. Something must still be blocking it, but I'm unsure what it could be.
