as I learnd from RDC and elsewhere the some possibilities my address zone is from 62.146.82.64 to 62.146.82.79 16 addresses including network, broadcast anddefault gateway a) 79-64.82.146.62.in-addr.arpa b) 64-79.82.146.62.in-addr.arpa c) 64/28.82.146.62.in-addr-arpa ISPConfig says invalid character Thanks for Clearing
Please see ISPConfig DNS tutorial for an example: https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial...vice-with-ispconfig/#nbspreverse-name-service And the other question is, are you sure that you run the reverse zone yourself and that not the ISP or data center that assigned you the IP and subnet is running SNS service for that IP? Because typically, today, when you run a server at e.g. hetzner or a similar ISP in Germany, then the ISP runs the reverse record, and you just set it in the client control panel of the ISP.
Yes I am shure, that work since over 10 years, on my old crashed server, but I have problem with reverse pointer on the new one Thanks for quick answer Rainer
Sorry thats nothing new, as most samples it is for a normal zone, but whats about a classless subzone as mine. Actually I have version a) but I am not shure if ist correct. Unfortuatly the data from the old working server are lost so I have in mind the settings I did about 15 years ago. But as I say I am not shure after that time. the named-checkzone returns OK
Thanks indeed. From #1 I had no idea what you were asking. Reading this whole thread, I guess what you are asking is how to name the reverse zone. Using Internet Search Engines with Code: dns reverse zone classless subnet I found as first entry https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/t...rking/configure-subnetted-reverse-lookup-zone, which states name should be either 64.28.82.146.192 or 64-28.82.146.192 (if the 64/28.82.146.192 syntax is wrong). I believe your zones had wrong subnet, use subnet calculator to check correct subnet ID and mask bits. (use Internet Search Engines with subnet calculator online).
Thank for reply. I had read the MS article from which I took solution a) and c), I tried the xx.subnetbits.xx.xx.xx too, do not remember why it did not work. From other articles i got version b) The subnet is correct, its a /240 or 28 bit mask, the range too. Just ckecked with https://www.calculator.net/ip-subne...p=62.146.82.66&ctype=ipv4&printit=0&x=46&y=22 I have this IP range since about more than 15 years. As I remember I defined the zone like version a) on the old crashed server, but was not shure so I asked. I thinI have to talk to my ISP. Thank you, have a nice week Regards Rainer
