    Hi Guys,

    ***NEWBIE WARNING*** :)

I am using the GUI interface from MySQL to administrate my databases (aswell as phpMyAdmin) and users. On logging on today as root I got the following message:

I haven't change the root password since I installed MySQL

The strange thing is that I can still login using my other user accounts I have created and my phpBB forum and ISPconfig webs connects to the database fine, as they are setup with different users.

Any ideas what is causing the problem??

    Cheers,
    SiMiE

P.S Setup my server according to http://www.howtoforge.com/installing_a_lamp_system_with_fedora_core_6

Sorry if this isn't the right place to discuss this type of topic

Have you ever logged in as root before? Are you sure you didn't make a typo (capslock)?

If you are sure you can login to the database with other userid's, then someone must have changed the root password.
See here for a possible recovery procedure.

Don't worry about it... Seems to of corrected itself with a restart, strangely...
For some reason when logging into other user accounts, before restart, i was getting messages saying lose of connection etc... when browsing the menu items....

    Thanks for your help...
