I am having trouble with imap authentication. when connecting with Squirrelmail I get:
ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.

I got the same problem with the virtual server of your after I changed the [email protected] user's domain and the domains table to match my version without updating any of the other config files to match, so I think the problem may be that I put the wrong domain name in one of the config files on my setup. any suggestions where to look? I think I doublechecked all the ones mentioned in your recipe and I did not see an error, but I'm half retarded so don't take my word for it.

    status update

okay, so the problem I was having was that I had renamed the user "[email protected]" to [email protected]. by turning up the loging on courier-authrc ( I think that was the name) I figured out that the home folder, /home/vmail/example.com/sales needed to be renamed and that solved the problem for that user. there are now other users that I imported into the database that have a directory copied over and I am working out bugs (ERROR: Could not complete request.
    Query: CREATE "INBOX.Sent"
Reason Given: Cannot create this folder.)

    but I am chugging along.

    any tips would be appreciated

    resolution

okay, so the last problem I reported was a permissions issue on the user folders. they weren't owned by vmail:vmail yet. I've gotten past all that and all 1863 imported users have functioning mail boxes. thank you for your help!
