Hi all I've just discovered ISPConfig 3 and I am trying it out . I have bought the ISPConfig 3 manual and had a quick look over it. Unfortunately I cant seem to find a simple step by step, to set up a new website that works... I guess like a lot of guys on this forum I have a dynamic IP address so to help with that I am using a dynamic host www.no-ip.com. That seems to be working fine. I have even managed to get the email working (send and receive) for newly added domains both owned and dynamic. But try as i might i can't get the new site to show up as is should with the default "Welcome to your new webpage" as described here http://docs.ispconfig.org/creating-web-sites/ I must admit the DNS thing is confusing me and i have probably not set that up correctly Please if there is some one out there that could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful Thanking you in anticipation
Please see page 259 for the step by step instructions to create a new website. You can use the noIP (sub)domain domain name and enter it as domain name into the domain field in ispconfig. As you explained above that you have a dynamic IP address, I assume that your server is located behind a router? In that case, select the internal IP address of the server in the website settings (instead of the xetranl one). then configure your router to forward port 80 and 443 to the IP address of your server.
Hi thanks A super fast response OK I already followed the section on page 259 5.3 How Do I Create A Web Site? The router is configured and working. passing traffic from my router to my server. This is confirmed as I am able to send and receive email via squirrel and I also have a VoIP setup on the same server... NO im not using DMZ. The IP address setting (IPv4) only had the wild card * so was not able to select any other but... One step that I noted is missing, is if you go to the 'System' tab in the control panel and then in the 'System' section on the left, is Server IP addresses. from there you can add the IP address of your server. e.g. 192.168.0.10 Save it, then in the website tab select the domain then select the IP address from the pull down save it. Then type in the web browser http://mydomin.noip.com/index.html It will then direct you to the index page of your new site... Thank you.... Now to get my head around VServers....
