    As the title says!

I'm already started the install 3 times and ends up with an install error on MariaDB, exactly at the restart of Service:

I already have problems with MariaDB/MySQL on my old install and there, I'm also unable to start the service of it!

Could please someone tells what's wrong?

    Thanks a lot.

Just to mention, the old server is on a different HDD and not deleted or otherwise destroyed!

The problems I faced on the old, were starting after updating Debian 8 and ISPConfig 3.1!

I described in your other thread how to get MySQl error messages:

    https://www.howtoforge.com/communit...-ispconfig-as-inaccessible.76540/#post-361605

and you're currently installing a new operating system and ISPConfig has not even been installed at this step, so you can see now what I told you in the other thread already that the ISPConfig update is not related to your problem. A Linux server runs hundreds of processes at the same time, so a timely coincidence of two actions that you do on your server do not nescessarily mean that these are related.

OK, done a new clean install of Minimal Server 4. time and all went well except (again) for MariaDB, at the command "service mysql restart" the outcome is (again!):

Now, running the command systemctl status mariadb.service
    Code:

    root@server1:/home/reimar# systemctl status mariadb.service
    ● mariadb.service - MariaDB database server
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/mariadb.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)

     Main PID: 17513 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
       Status: "MariaDB server is down"

I'll reboot now and try again to restart MySQL Server!
    Post the result after that!

I told you how to get the error messages. Why don't you run the command to get the error message that I asked you for?

I think you have set the wrong value to sql_mode. It is NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION and NOT
    NO ENGINE SUBSTITUTION

Thanks Till! First, at all, I just wrote at what time the error occurred and NOT that is a fault of ISPConfig!! I hope that is understood?!

Next, I now on the way to try to get follow the Tutorial "https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial...-9-stretch-apache-bind-dovecot-ispconfig-3-1/" and use to install on a new HDD with that old HDD disconnected! And I started to get problems again with MariaDB/MySQL!
In the Tutorial is at least one error:
Not a big deal at all, I just changed to the right command (I hope?). But, I don't know, there more mistakes in that tuto, I'm simply not an expert for Linux and it commands! I just follow the advice given in the tutorial and on-screen while proceeding with the install!
Already installed today 4 times the Minimal Server and started with the Perfect Server installation, coming just to MariaDB/MySQL!

At this time, I really don't know what to do next! Sure, somewhere, something is wrong! If YOU can, please tell me what and/or whot I doing wrong?!

    Thanks a lot.

Had you read my replies in the other Thread in the other forum for ISPConfig?

There is no image in your post, which command do you think is wrong in the tutorial?

  11. till

till Super Moderator Staff Member ISPConfig Developer

Yes, and none of them showed the requested log file content from /var/log/syslog after you restarted MySQL.

Sometimes it is better to copy the lines. As I mentioned it is NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION and you typed it with spaces instead of underscores – maybe because the complete line is underlined in the tutorial.

The line is also shown above a second time where one can see the underscores as well.

    Thanks for your reply:

That's what I get on Screen using the tutorial:
It should be displayed correctly in that Tutorial! Or am I wrong?
For today I get tired with this already! more that 14h trying to get the Install finish and end up every try at the same corner: MariaDB/MySQL! Boring!

  15. Croydon

    Croydon ISPConfig Developer ISPConfig Developer

It is displayed correctly. Your browser just overlaps the underline with the underscores of the words. Select the line then you see the scores.

  16. till

till Super Moderator Staff Member ISPConfig Developer

    It is displayed correctly.

But good that we found your error now, you thought the tutorial is wrong and changed it while the tutorial is correct indeed and your change caused the MySQL failure.

As Croydon pointed out, always copy config lines and paste them into the files.

Btw. The line you refer to is also shown in the explanation above the file content and as you can see there as well, it has to use underscores. See Screenshot from tutorial:

The fact is, on Screen, there isn't any difference to see the whole underlined sentence/command, and even in the printed page, there's is the whole sentence underlined and no any difference to see. As it looks on screen, it looks exactly the same print with a Color Laser Printer!

  18. till

till Super Moderator Staff Member ISPConfig Developer

It might depend on your Browser, e.g. chrome shows the underscores. But as I showed you above, the command is shown a second time in the tutorial right above the file content with underscores and when you copy the line as one normally does when installing, then the underscors are in the copied text as well.

I removed the highliting of the line now to ensure that everyone recognizes the underscores on any browser and even without reading the description text that shows it as well.

OK, let it as it is, I don't want to argue!
Will change that command and see it will work or not!

  20. Quaxth

    Quaxth Member

OK, change the command to the correct one and that worked.

That was the last I do for today, it's already after 23:00 and I've to wake up at 5:00 again.

Thanks for the help and good night!
