    Hi

i want to start my own website, i will be buying a .com.co domain... also i want to lease a dedicated server for this website.

This is the first time i'm doing this, and would like to know what do i need ?

My first question is, do i need a DNS in the dedicated server ?

    Thanks in advance

Starting with your last question, depending on your provider that servers you with the dns-entry at your nic you don't. most of them offer the DNS service itself from theirside. Normally you should keep in mind that you should have two DNS-Servers for redundancy reasons. (although if your single dedicated webserver breaks down you don't need to care about your dns anyway ;) )

The most you need is knowledge and time. Time to take care about your server and it safety, patching etc... Knowledge to do such.
But safety / security does not end at the server itself, keep in mind the application you are running there.
Thus the question is, while you are talking about a single app. if it does not make sense to go to an fsp, offering all from dns, email, webspace, db, as you do not need to care about the server stuff below.
But that's your decision, for both there are pro's and con's.

Well an depending on you knowledge and goals you might need a control panel or not. You could do all the config your own which should not be to much with only a single app. or in case of a probably growing environment later on you already make use of a CP yet. In this case I'd suggest ISPCP (=
