    Hi,
Is it possible to defragment files as you can in Windows? . Also can I clean old "cookies" out?.
This is not urgent, but I thought the information would be useful to have as I used to clean my old system about every 4 weeks or so to help keep it running efficiently. I have F8 os with Gnome desktop.

    Defragment.

Thank you for your help. I have read the article which explained why it is not necessary to defragment files in Linux, and I posted a 'thank you' message.
    Kind regards
    JTH

Just keep some empty space on your harddisk ;) then it will "auto-defrag"
